Drifting
Sitting in a bay with Snacks
A wrong turn that led to a beautiful surprise. This is both the joys and frustrations of venturing into the wild; alone. This particular outing extended my adventure an additional hour. Thankfully my dry bag has snacks.
*A little safety note my fellow wildlings - always be prepared! I had extra water (and water tablets), first aid kit, flashlight, matches, extra clothes, swiss army knife, tow rope and sunscreen/bug spray.
What a privilege to drift here among the reeds, loons and inhale the wild air. Also granola bites and licorice nibs. I’ll need that sugar boost for the paddle back to shore. Until then… a few floating lines.
Drifting
with dragonflies
and granola
the call of the loon
and crickets along the banks
the distant sound of a motor
threatens to disturb this peace
but it fades
and the guitar notes from a dock rise
over the wind in the trees
and the rush of water behind me
turning in the mirrored glass
a little waterfall revealed
a small sign upon the rocky shore

Curious
Now that I have found this secret place, I will definitely return. But with more snacks and a notebook.
